Water treatment is the process of improving the quality of water to make it usable for a specific end-use, be it drinking, industrial water supply, irrigation, water recreation, etc. Water treatment removes contaminants and sediments. Treatment of stored water, whether in water tanks, swimming pools or artificial lakes is crucial to human health.
Water tanks provide water for a variety of uses, such as drinking, cooking, washing, bathing, and commercial uses. Such uses can be negatively affected if there is an inadequate or insufficient supply of clean water.
An excessive volume of water in a water tank or vessel can result in loss of residual chlorine and permit the propagation of bacteria, making water tanks vulnerable to many conditions that may cause hazardous effects to the stored water and end consumer. Tanks are also vulnerable to the presence of pests and sediments.
Proper care and maintenance of water storage tanks or vessels by a trained technician is crucial to keep a healthy water supply. It is important to clean and disinfect large storage tanks every 6 months, given the tank and water source are in excellent condition, or every 1 to 3 months if the water source and/or the tank are in a bad condition. Proper tank/vessel maintenance ensures a stable supply of drinking water and improved hygiene and sanitary conditions.
Egypro FME as one of the water treatment companies in Egypt specializes in water tanks cleaning using world standard procedures and proper cleaning equipment and chemicals to provide safety for both consumers and workers.
Another form of Water Treatment is Desalination, which is a process that takes away mineral components from saline water, making it fit as drinking water. Desalination is often the only way to provide potable water to a hotel, resort or a remote site. However, desalination shouldn’t be looked at as a last resort. With 96 percent of the world’s water being saltwater, desalination becomes an effective means to get around the natural limits of freshwater availability.
Desalination not only removes salt, but also removes harmful metals, chemicals, and bacteria that could be in the water source. It removes bacteria by physically excluding them through the use of chemical processes, making treated water sometimes healthier than freshwater.
Egypro FME has recently launched its water Desalination service for all its clients, after years of working exclusively with Wadi Degla resorts. Working with 4 resorts, Egypro FME has designed, installed, renovated and operated Water Desalination plants for seawater desalination from open sea intake, supplying the resort with 1,000 m 3 up to 10,000 m 3 of potable water per day.
